Off-the-grid & sustainable travel
The tourism industry has been one of the top offenders in damage done to the environment since its modern inception. From eroding coastlines due to high rise after high rise, to a plastic filled ocean due to the over use of single use polyethylene. Every step we took toward modernism was a step away from sustainability; but it doesn’t have to be that way. Geneve will be a place that restores balance to the ecology, cultivates botany and provides sanctuary to threatened wildlife in an area that was traumatized and left to fend for itself after WWII. We will be showing folks how to live in a way that has limited environmental impact and also creating event spaces for people to write their own adventure.
The wildlife Sanctuary
Geneve Ranch is nestled at the base of a hill where you can catch stunning views of the sunset or maybe a black tailed deer, a short hike away. The ranch runs off of solar power, potable well water and compost methods to preserve the delicate eco system on which many species of plant and animal depend. We are on 3 acres in the high desert and have dedicated the land to preserving the endangered California Desert Tortoise.
Farm-to-Table
We grow produce in our walipini and raised garden beds so that we have fresh food year round. Our hens provide us with dozens of fresh farm eggs each week.
We irrigate using recycled gray water and use several different styles of composting methods to create rich soil in the dry lake bed of El Mirage.
