Geneve Ranch was created and inspired by the life and impact of Genevieve Vasquez, a tenacious abuela to six grandchildren and a great granddaughter. A second generation Mexican-American, born in 1924, Genevieve was raised by her aunt and uncle in Southern California during the Great Depression. To make a living, her uncle raised and sold meat rabbits and avocados to the local markets. As an adult, Genevieve became a dental assistant, x-ray technician, mother to two daughters and countless pets.
The middle child in a family of 3 girls, Genevieve knew what it was to raise strong, perseverant women and worked well into her 70’s and 80’s. How fitting it is that her name means “origin of women”. A resourceful person by nature, her lifestyle of conservancy continues to impact all those in her life. These teachings and her eldest granddaughter’s experiences abroad on sustainable farms and eco villages, influenced how we approach travel and consumerism.
With that blueprint in mind, we have designed a sustainable retreat and wildlife sanctuary so that every person that visits Geneve Ranch is helping preserve the delicate ecosystem that exists in the high desert. We take all the work of traditional conservation efforts out for our guests by carefully considering what we put back into the earth and what we take out of it. Our guests become our partners in stewardship and a part of our mission to travel and see the world while leaving it better than we found it.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
